Si or Silicone Rubbers O-Rings

(Dow Corning®, General Electric®, Union Carbide® or Stauffer-Wacker®) Silicone has good tensile, tear and abrasion resistance, but are not recommended for dynamic seals. They have excellent low-temperature flexibility, some to as low as -175°F. In dry heat, 450°F is the maximum recommended operating temperature for continuous duty, with 600°F possible for short periods. They are not recommended for low aniline petroleum fluids, ketones, or aromatics, but are used primarily for dry heat static seals. Many silicone compounds have high mold shrinkage. Parts produced in standard O-ring molds are undersized and require Class II tolerances. Others are available which mold to Class I tolerances.
